As most of you know, I enjoy photography—not enough to build a darkroom or spend hundreds of thousands on camera equipment. But I do enjoy taking pictures and my pictures are mostly of animals. Today, I’d like to share some of what I consider photo bloopers.
This week, I saw a gorgeous Samoyed walking with his owner. When we stopped to talk, I couldn’t help myself. I shot a picture of this guy’s pretty face and bright blue eyes. But what I didn’t notice, until I looked at the picture on the screen was that his friend, a chocolate poodle, had photo-bombed him. Cute, huh?
I have no idea how this shot of Lily came about. I guess something slipped when I took the picture or something because I can tell you, there is only one Lily—not two as appear in this interesting shot.
Now this is one of my all-time favorite photos (and the People’s Choice at the Ventura County Fair one year). You see it here on this page every time you visit. This is Smokey, my mother’s cat. Maybe you can tell, he’s leaping after a bee. People ask me how long it took me to take this shot—how long did I sit and wait for it. Actually, the cat commandeered this photo. I was simply taking a picture of him with a point-and-shoot camera as he peered through a flowering bush. As I pressed the button, however,I heard Smokey leap out of the bush. I said, “Darn. Missed the shot.” Then I looked at the screen on the small digital camera and gasped. This is the result of Smokey’s maneuver. He didn’t catch that bee, however, only this award-winning shot.
